What's for Breakfast?

  1. Drink lemon and water upon waking.
  2. Thirty minutes later, if desired, have a piece of fruit.

How to prepare a breakfast shake:

  1. Put an organic raw food powder into the highest-quality balanced water, or add to raw, sprouted seed, or nut milks.
  2. Add fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mangoes, coconut juice, and coconut meat.
  3. Add flax and/or borage oil, or sesame oil.
  4. Add a healthy saturated fat such as raw coconut oil to aid hormone balance and to help create slow, steady, long-term energy.
  5. An avocado may be added.
  6. Add bananas sparingly because they are high in fruit sugars. Note: A banana can soothe a frazzled nervous system due to its high content of tryptophan, a calming amino acid.

Brantley Basic Thai Coconut Shake

  • The juice and meat of one Thai coconut
  • 1 cup organic blueberries or strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp. lime juice
  • 1 T. agave syrup, to taste (optional)
  • Blend ingredients until smooth.

For Cereal Lovers

For some people, breakfast wouldn't be breakfast without cereal. Kids may love it, too, but most commercial cereals contain refined sugars or other sweeteners that will quickly elevate blood sugars. They also contain flour and un-sprouted grains, additives, artificial colors, preservatives and synthetic vitamins, creating a virtually dead food that can cause physical imbalances and deficiencies. Even if a commercial cereal is labeled"all natural," if the whole grain has not been sprouted and has been ground into flour, it is taxing to the system.

Brantley'ola Sprouted Nut Cereal

  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, soaked for 2 hours or more
  • 2 cups almonds, soaked overnight
  • 3 cups pecans, soaked overnight
  • 2 cups walnuts, soaked overnight
  • 1 T. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt to taste

Lightly grind up ingredients in food processor in advance. In the morning, drain water from the nuts and the rest of the ingredients. Refrigerate immediately after the first serving. This will last for two more days. Pour nut milk over the above ingredients. Add agave syrup to taste and add a few organic blueberries (fresh or frozen) and fresh organic apple slices.

Brantley No-Time-at-All Nut Milk

  • 1 cup room-temperature filtered water
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 - 1 T. agave syrup to taste
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • Pinch of cinnamon powder (optional)
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 T. organic cocoa or cacao powder (optional)
  • 1 T. raw, sprouted nut butter
  • Blend until smooth, and refrigerate or use immediately.

For those who don't want to give up everything at once, and crave that piece of toast in the morning, sprouted breads are best, as they contain no enzyme inhibitors to complicate digestion. Sprouted breads are still flour, though, which will have an impact on blood sugar. Spread raw butter, raw coconut oil, or raw sprouted nut butters on the bread to slow down the release of sugars. To sweeten the toast, use raw, unheated honey or agave syrup, avoiding jams or jellies.
